America’s boating course® with on-the-water training

America’s Boating Club -Knoxville offers America’s Boating Course® several times each year for our members and the general public. The ABC course is an introductory boating course focusing on boat handling, docking and trailering, safety equipment and procedures, rules of the road, hands-on use of line and knots, boat types, and terminology. Our instructors also include information specific to navigating our local waterways.

The ABC course is beneficial to folks planning on buying their first boat, those who already own a boat and would like to feel more comfortable on the water, and even to those "old hands" who have never had formal training in boat handling and boat safety.

Any Tennessee resident born after January 1, 1989 must show the TWRA-issued wallet Boating Safety Education Certificate as proof of successful completion of the TWRA Boating Safety exam when operating a boat with more than 8.5 horsepower.  This course will prepare you to pass the TWRA exam.

Many insurance companies offer discounts on boat insurance to people who have successfully completed the ABC course. America’s Boating Course 3rd edition is approved by the NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.)
